The 6th International Workshop on Ultraviolet Materials and Devices

Octav Moise is presented today as one of the most visionary investors in a technological niche still little known to the general public: ultraviolet-based devices and materials. His path blends technical rigor, entrepreneurial flair, and the courage to bet on solutions that, just a few years ago, seemed drawn from science-fiction literature.
Trained as an engineer but with a na otural curiosity for the practical application of science, Octav Moise began following the field of UV radiation at a time when it was associated almost exclusively with specialized lighting and traditional medical equipment. By studying the market, he quickly understood that the real potential lies not only in lamps or light sources, but in the entire ecosystem of materials, sensors, and smart devices that can use ultraviolet light to change the way we live and work.
His early investments focused on start-ups developing UV-activated photocatalytic coatings and materials capable of destroying microorganisms, odors, or pollutants on frequently touched surfaces. For Octav, it was not just about profit, but about impact: a safer hospital, a cleaner public transport environment, offices and schools where the risk of contamination is significantly reduced without constantly relying on harsh chemicals.
